Say Hey to Hanna, One of Draught Works Thrill Seekers!
Have you noticed the new faces behind the bar at Draught Works lately? I don’t know if it’s just me, but my ability to recognize faces these days is at an all time low, so I thought it’d be a great idea to introduce and share a bit about each of our new crew members so that you can get familiar with the smile behind the mask!
Meet Hanna! This 26 year-old pesto-lovin’ firecracker is an explosively awesome addition to our serving crew, and wildly wonderful to the core! Originally from Gig Harbor, WA, a breathtaking bay on Puget Sound, Hanna grew up sprinting the streets with her distance running parents. As her parents traveled far and wide training for, and participating in marathons, Hanna gained an appreciation for all things outdoors and adrenaline inducing! From kayaking to skiing, to backpacking and distance running, if it gets your heart beating, Hanna’s all about it!
A memorable family trip to Glacier National Park combined with her ever growing passion for exercise and outdoor recreation lured Hanna to Missoula to attend the University of Montana for Exercise Science. Though she had planned on immediately attending school for Physical Therapy after graduating in 2016, Hanna decided that she needed to pursue something fun, simple, and a little bit silly, so she took a job as a zip-line operator up at Snowbowl for the summer.
A year later, Hanna was asked back to join the Snowbowl crew, but this time they wanted her behind the bar. She immediately fell in love with the fast-paced, high energy atmosphere tending bar had to offer and graduated to winter bartending as the summer faded away.
Though she admittedly had NEVER been skiing prior to working at the Bowl, her coworkers put the pressure on the second the snow started flying. It didn’t take long for the endless pestering to push Hannah to slide into her first pair of ski boots and pizza-french-fry her way down. She immediately fell in love, though she said, “Learning to ski at the Bowl sure makes you get better FAST!”
Hanna has always loved the comfortable down home vibe at Snowbowl. Her co-workers are down-to-earth, adventurous, downright FUNNY, and she’s had the opportunity to meet so many unforgettable individuals in her time ‘tendin on the mountain. Unfortunately this year, COVID abruptly shut Snowbowl down nearly a month before ski season ended leaving Hanna and countless others without a job.
One rainy day about a month after losing her job, Hanna was laying around sulking at home feeling unsure of what her next move would be, just as she had done many days prior, when she received a sudden flash of inspiration and motivation to get up off the couch and drop off her resume, and Draught Works was first on her list.
Hanna had always felt a warm comfortable vibe while sipping crispy suds at Draught Works and thought she’d fit right in with our eclectic adventure-seeking crew, and boy was she right! Though she wasn’t much of a beer drinker before working at Draught Works, she is completely head-over-heels for our Blood Orange Gose, and even called it her “favorite beer of all time”!
When she’s not distance running through the Rattlesnake Wilderness or shredding Meadows or West Ridge at the Bowl, Hanna enjoys secretly listening to pop country, kicking’ it with her friends doggos, eating pesto pasta, and traveling! Her biggest hero is Emelie Forsburg, a Swedish athlete and entrepreneur specializing in trail-running, ski mountaineering, farming, coffee, and organic nutrition. “I love that she still loves running, even though she is constantly training. I love running, but some days are a struggle, Emilie’s passion and lust for life keep me motivated and moving forward, even when I’m not feeling it.”
Hanna is a literal beam of sunshine inside and out and an exceptionally hard working employee. We are so lucky and grateful to have her on the team! Be sure to say hey next time you roll on through for a pint!
