Announcing Double SNAP Dollars as our Summer Cheers For Charity Recipient
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a federally funded program in the domestic hunger safety net, provides assistance to millions of qualified low-income individuals and families across the United States in danger of hunger and malnutrition. Today, in Missoula County, over 13,500 individuals report having income low enough to qualify for the SNAP program.
Double SNAP Dollars, a local program founded here in Montana, allows SNAP recipients to double their SNAP award at participating local Farmers Markets and CSA Farms, giving families and individuals in need access to locally produced fresh fruits and vegetables, while also boosting our local economy. Last year, nearly 2,500 individuals purchased over $274,000 worth of produce using Double SNAP Dollars.
At Draught Works, we whole-heartedly believe in community. We believe in supporting our local farmers, and we believe ALL Montanan’s ought to have access to the local farm-fresh food they deserve, and that’s why we’ve chosen Double SNAP Benefits as our second quarter Cheers for Charity recipient!
Next week, Draught Works Brewery will award $2,000.00 to Double SNAP Dollars to support their mission to make healthy local food available to all Montanans while also supporting Montana’s farmers and boosting our local economy!
